Collagen Induction Therapy Scar Tissue Removal

Collagen Induction Therapy was first introduced over thirty years ago as an anti-ageing treatment using super fine needles to cause damage to the layers of the skin and collagen in order for the body to repair the damage. In the process, this micro-damage stimulates fibroblast production and re-stimulates collagen production. The process "irons out" the dermal crevices and breaks down the tough bonds made in the wrinkles or scar tissue.

Microneedling uses a fine needle to create microwounds, or channels, in the skin. This triggers the production of capillaries, elastin, and collagen. It’s also called skin needling or collagen induction therapy.

If the procedure also uses radiofrequency waves, it’s called radiofrequency microneedling. The needle releases radiofrequency into the channels, causing additional damage. This enhances the effects of standard microneedling.

How do they work?

By damaging the dermis and epidermis with small puncture wounds from the needles, the skin naturally wants to heal the damage and creates plasma – the body's own emergency services for trauma. The plasma is sent to heal the hundreds of small wounds. By adding RF to the needles, a radio frequency burst of energy is emitted from the needles deep into the collagen, thus heating, damaging, and finally repairing the damage naturally – for super smooth, younger, rejuvenated skin.

Where pharmaceutical products and microneedling alone are used in conjunction with one another the same wound-healing response is triggered, and the products accelerate and improve the results.

Aftercare

It is advised to leave your face completely for at least 12 hours if possible to maximise penetration of the aftercare products and for the prevention of foreign bodies. Please avoid makeup for 24 hours. Anything that touches the face needs to be clean: a fresh pillowcase, clean makeup brushes, a new face mask, etc. Post 24 hours, when washing your face, do not excessively rub your face and pat dry with a clean towel. Patients are encouraged to use an SPF cream of at least factor 50.

The results?

RF microneedling can last up to 2 years and is the best option for skin tightening on older clients.

Microneedling with products can last up to 8-12 months, which is more suitable for clients who are 30 to 40.

After treatment, patients may have a slightly flushed, pink tone to their skin that may look like sunburn and have mild swelling. This may last 24 hours with normal skin and slightly longer with sensitive skin.

Results can take 3 to 4 weeks to manifest, but they are long-lasting, often lasting 12 to 18 months, following a 3-treatment series. Given the procedure’s brief downtime, the extended and lengthy outcomes are well worth it.

Laser Carbon Facial

This tried and tested treatment is the perfect antidote to problematic skin.

The laser gently removes a volcanic carbon paste applied to the skin. This, in turn, extracts dead skin and absorbs excessive sebum, leaving the skin clean and rebalanced.
